Syed's Lesson

Calm down Syed. Go slow. He has a nice smile and is likable as a teacher. He had good voice projection and his lesson plan was almost without any mistakes. Well done. However, there were a few mistakes in the language used in the classroom: not much girls play football. Also, his sample written piece was about caring friends and not about sports(his chosen theme). Nevertheless, I commend him for having a sample article for a writing class and for showing clearly and jn context, logical connectors. Have I missed anything?

  1. Good points: I like the video very much even though I am not into sports at all. The set induction is very successful and exciting! Very clear instruction and voice projection. Shahrul is confident enough in the class. The flow of the lesson is great—step by step leading students to the essay writing: brainstorm, sample essay, and while writing session.

Aspects to work on: The time for the assignment is not enough. For low proficiency students or those who don’t like writing, 30 minutes is far too little for them; sometimes, it takes them 10 minutes just to start writing. It is better if the homework is asking students to modify their essay and submit the next class. Another essay is too much for them. In writing class,a more important thing is to let students reflect on their written piece and improve it.
Overall, Shahrul gave a remarkable lesson today!

  2. Shahrul, even though he seemed very nervous he came out to be a confident teacher. His voice and instructions were the clearest I've heard so far. Tiny errors but overall the class was interesting! well done!
One small thing - what hit me was the s. word where you just have to control a little bit more and being very late for the class - sorry Shahrul but I believe that as a teacher you need to be responsible in tat way as well. If there is any emergency you can always try to inform someone and apologize at the beginning. No hard feelings! I really think you did great! :)

  3. He did a very good job as a teacher. His instruction was very clear, as well as his voice projection. It is very good since he really helping the students on how to write an essay step by step. I like his interaction with students, his making enough eye-contact, he smiled. However, he needs to slow down a bit and he will be doing better in the future and also he needs to come earlier in the next presentation. overall, it was a very good presentation.

  4. I really like Shahrul's presentation as for me his lesson was very organized. The pair task was good as he is taking inputs from every group and write it down on the board. He also helped the students for the writing task when he go through the sample essay and explaining the essay's construction. However, in my opinion, he should choose a sample essay which is related to the topic. It was quite awkward when we were discussing about sport and the example was on somethings else. Overall, i really enjoy the lesson. Good job Shahrul;)

  7. Hahaha hmmm many have turned to become Ms Adele, I see. Hahaha read those shahrul? A few points to remember from your presentation: Be punctual. Go slow in your speech. Use only relevant materials. Related to theme, I mean. You are a likable teacher. What do you have to say, shahrul?

  8. shahrul, overall you did a good job. Your explanation on how to write an essay was very clear and precise. Teacher shahrul, you was such a calm teacher. You keep on having a good interaction with the students towards the end of the class. Overall,it was a nice lesson.

Aspect to work on: As madam adeline said, you have to go little bit slow in your speech and your sample suppose to be something similiar on what you going to teach so that the students have a clearer picture in doing their last activity, which is to write an essay.
