Ashilla's Lesson

Ashilla looked and acted perfectly as a teacher. Her voice was clear and she moved around the class attending to the students. I like that. Although she fell in the morn, she came to present and showed professionalism. Well done. However, the examples given on worksheet were not related to the topic of the lesson. Careful. What do you think?

  1. Shilla shew us a natural teacher in the class today. She remains calm when there is technical problems, which is a vital quality for a teacher. If the teacher panics, students will take the chance to talk and create chaos. Besides, she delivers the instruction clearly with a confident poise. While learning the conjunction words, if she can offer more examples and discuss with students the usage of these words and phrases in-depth, it helps the low proficiency students more in their essay later.

  2. Ashilla is a natural at being a teacher. She remains calm and the class is under control even when there are technical glitches. She took care to ask the students if they're ok with the tasks, which I think is a good move as it will bring the student back on track if they're lost and will give students a chance to speak up on any difficulties they face during the lesson. I like the video because it prompts students to think why the man is seen being slapped on the face, although no one's laying a finger on him, so good choice of teaching aids. Activity was all right, where we can see a balance of group and individual work. However, I would much prefer it if she took more time to teach the students about the cohesive devices because some lower proficiency students might not be able to catch up so fast.

  3. Shilla is a pro not only as a speaker but also as a teacher. She delivers her thoughts very easily and understandably, she is very lovable as a person/teacher, too. The message on discrimination is also very important because students should be aware and be thought to right values and morals as well.

  4. Shila did very well ,the classroom activity was awesome .I will like to suggest that the lesson should have been more teachers guided by giving the students the orignal copy of the essay with underline cohesive device and followed by the puzzle. During the writing activity, students will be able to identify the sentence connectors and be able to use them in their essay writing.

  5. Shila knows how to take charge in class. She communicates with the students, make eyes contact, and her voice projection was excellent. The topic is suitable for the students, but in my opinion, the passage is quite long for a low proficient students. Overall, She makes an excellent teacher.

    1. Shila's presentation was good. She acted and sounded like a real teacher. Lound and clear voice projection. She knows how to control her lesson and conducted it very well. But like Mdm Adele said, she left out samples and some of her document got crash. But she still manage to present well.

  6. Ashilla was so calm and did not panic although she couldn't open her files and materials she had prepared for her lesson. She carried out the lesson without distraction and i think it was an organized lesson plan. She gave the students a handout of cohesive devices and a sample essay, which was good as later she asked students to write an essay using the devices. She made students to come in front and share their idea. Voice and instructions was clear.

  7. Thank you all for the constructive feedback. :)

I believe I could prepare better with the activities, I should have been aware that examples that relates back to the main topic were important for continuity. It would also be better if I had more colours/ interactive teaching aids throughout the lesson to retain the lower proficiency's attention especially because cohesive devices may not be so easy to comprehend.
