Fifi's Lesson

Fifi looked nice and trendy in her see through attire. Her Set Induction was extremely well planned. The clip on water conservation in India was captivating and for awhile, we all sat still. There were however some pronunciation problems, no reading task during While Reading and too much focus on grammar; verbs. Do not give a definition of a grammar item. One of her worksheets had many mistakes. Remember to go through your sheets and do the tasks yourself before using them in class. Making students stretch was nice.

  1. Hi, fifi’s lesson is full of energy. At first she let students stand up and stretch.

I think it’s a good way to get students attention. And her video is quite interesting.

Her while reading activity is good, she give different level students to different worksheet.

Because there are some mistakes in the worksheet, I think it’s better to check everything before the lesson.

another thing is no reading task can be a problem. I think you can do better next time.

  2. Well done fifi~
you have the quality to be a teacher. I like your teaching style. As madam Adelina talked in the class, you may have some discussion about your nice video clip, and move your writing exercise to the while reading stage, it will be better. The activities must be related to the theme, and give more time for students to read and understand the passage.

  4. Hi everyone,
Fifi started her lesson well by asking everyone to wake up and stretching, it is a good way to start a lesson because usually students are tired and lost interest in study after few hours of study. her video was her biggest advantages because it's very unique and creative, she should discuss more about the video with students.
she should add more activities or exercises for her lesson because the activities that she gave in the class is too little and easy for the students.
since fifi is having problem in organizing her lesson plan, i want to suggest this website for her, it is for lesson planning and lesson plan's format.overall her topic is very meaningful and can be expand more.

  5. HI!

Thanks for the comments. The thing that I'm glad to hear was my set induction really captured everyone's attention.

I admit that I'm too focusing in the grammar lesson until I forgot the theme that I should covered. I should have another article that related to my video during the set induction and make them read and extract the main idea of each paragraph during the reading activity.

The exercises that I did also need to be improved by having some exercises that related to the topic, "Water Conservation".

I should re-check my lesson plan and exercises before entering the class. Having a lot of mistakes that make my students feel frustrated in doing the activity makes me feel so bad.

More comments should are most welcomed to improve my teaching and learning lesson.

  6. I don`t know why my comment for Siew Inn`s lesson is here, maybe I did it wrongly, but never mind. I shall post it again.
For Fifi`s lesson, she did a quite good job and she would be a good teacher in the future obviously. In the activities of the lesson, we have done many interesting excises.
I think the difficulty level should be divided for weak and smart students. However, the weaker students are always less confident than smarter students. As a teacher we should not divided the students by giving them different excises, we can just divided the activities into different steps. Normally, the first and second steps of activity are compulsory and prepared for the weaker students, but the last few steps are prepared for the smarter students and it is elective.

  7. A few mistakes during the instruction. I think all of them are acceptable.

I do attracted by your activities.
Theme usually is a big thing for a lesson. When we put ourselves into one skill, it is easily to forget talk about theme. I also made same mistake in stimulation teaching for literature class. Sometimes Plan can't full fill our ambitious.

Finally, I have to say video is good but lead me to another topic which is never related with saving water. I don't know did you notice this sentence in the video " over 1000 children die every day in India from diarrhea". I know this water saving method is impressive. But it is give me wrong hint of the topic. I hope everyone beware of this kind of issue when you select videos.

    And Well Done!

  8. Hi everyone,

Firstly, I like your 'warm-up' activity before your lesson started. Secondly, your video chosen was very attractive. It made us curious about what could happen and it was related to your theme. Moreover, you can interacted with us very well. But, I think there are still something you can improve. You can develop some more quesions based on your video and let students discuss about it. The while and post activities should stress the theme of the reading material. Overall, you did great.

    Thanks.
