Ma Ji's Environment

Ma Ji was a lot more comfortable being in font of the classroom. He kept his students on their toes by offering lollies and vitagen for answers which were correct.
He discussed with students what they know about environmental problems. Answers ranged from air pollution to global warming. Good.
He then distributed different texts with picture to groups of students. I like this. The students had to read and discuss with their friends the problem and solutions. The thing is some naughty students (Alwana and Fifi) did not read their passage or relate the problems with their passage. Instead they talked about deforestation in Malaysia. Their text was specifically on Amazon rainforest. hmmmm Ma Ji must make sure that students discuss and find solutions specifically to do with the text given. Else, there is no point giving them the text. Okay?
Population explosion. You should hear Bunmi and Joy's solution to this. hehehe
In the end, students ahd to come to the front to present their case to a realllly nice officer from the government to get fundings for their projects to solve their problems. Ashilla and her invisible partner (Paul) won the medal and vitagen for arguing that an awareness program for the public required the fundings. You have improved, Ma Ji. Keep it up.

Thanks for your kindly comments. I think there must be problems of group works in school beacuse students might only form a group with their good friends and not discuss with the students they don't like. The texts was one part of reading in class. I should prepare some tips of vocab or grammar to help low porfi lvl students. I need improve more. Thank you all.

  2. Maji ...reflecting on your past lesson will always create a chance for improvement ..you have done so well with this lesson and i know you can do more better than this , because you have got a great idea of showing your students the environmental problems around them and they have got many questions to ask their parents about environmental problems when they get back home ..its great !

  4. In my defense, Paul was not invisible but a wall that gave me neck and back support instead. therefor he cannot move from his spot to help me present. :p

Ma Ji is obviously more obvious in doing his lesson this time around. He smiles a lot more and interact with his students as we move through the lesson. He should give clear and firm instruction at the start of lessons though, such as 'by referring to the text' to present their ideas.

I think incentive base is a great way to perk student's interest too but by the end of the lesson, he should wrap up by reminding the students the lesson of that day if not they would only pay attention on winning and not bring back the topic learnt. :)
