Flowery Fifi

Fifi's set induction was good. The picture was eye catching.  She asked her students to read questions from the task sheet before playing the audio clip. Good. She called students by their names: each of them.
Points to work on: Fifi needs to proofread her sheets carefully because there were many mistakes in them. Some questions were phrased incorrectly. Pronunciation too needs improving: 'stat' vs 'state'. No  matter what, she explained very nicely to her students whenever they couldnt understand something. Good. A vocab or grammar activity was missing from your lesson, Fi. Why? Like Mubarak, you may want to present again in the next class. It is up to you. I dont mind it. Think about it.

  1. She gives me a good lesson. Just as Madam said, there are too many mistake in her material. The material choice I think is quite good, not too long but interest. One thing is about her audio clip, I hardly heard anything.
    I still like her class
    good job.

  2. Hi everyone,
At the beginning of the lesson, Fifi not only showed a good picture but also discussed it with students. In this way, it really helped students build background before listening to the audio clip. There is one point she needs to pay attention. Some grammatical errors are in your worksheets that you should try to avoid whenever you design the papers. By the way, I did not understand why you divided the audio clips into three parts. Overall, you are a good teacher. You are able to explain problems clearly to your students. GOOD JOB!

  3. Hi everyone,
I've known Fifi for almost 3 years and honestly I laughed when she pronounced the word "state". Every time she pronounced "library" will make me laugh too! But fifi, I love you. Haha. :D

She's having some problems on her pronunciation because of her accent. About her lesson, in my own opinion as a student, I prefer the listening part not to be separated into parts. "IF" the lesson has different scenario, it is okay to have different parts. The day she presented, I'm having some problems because the whole listening part is divided into three parts. Her flow of her lesson is smooth and I like it. Good job fi ! :)

  4. Good points:
    - Good set induction. She showed a picture and asked the students to describe it.
    - She asked students to read the questions before she played it. Good because at least students will get an idea about what audio and which detail that they should focus on.
    - She has a good interaction with her students by communicating a lot with them.

    Aspects to work on:
    - She should choose a better audio for listening activity. The audio that she played was not so clear because it was divided into 3parts. It was quite difficult to catch the conversation in the audio and most of us unable to get the answers.
    - Instead of creating her own worksheet, maybe she can just adapt it from other sources and change it slightly according to students' level.

  5. Many questioned why Fifi divided her audio clip into 3 parts...maybe it is worth thinking why these people are questioning, Fi.

  6. She looked like a friendly teacher but it is better if she smiles more to students. I like her set induction that let students discuss about a good picture. It was good that she let students read all the questions before listening which was necessary when students practice listening skills, and time that be given to read questions was enough. Questions include both choice question and short answer question. That was good because short answer question can let students get better practice. However, as we saw, there were many grammar mistakes. Besides, the listening material was a little difficult. I think she can do better than this.
