Wang Yi: Puzzled

I like the fruit pic for the Pre stage but I think it shud be used for Set Induction stage. P53 and the isowhatchamacallit are scarying the students. Unless you have a fun game using the words. The worksheets were too difficult and should be made easier. Remember do not cut the sheets in different sizes as the students were piecing the puzzle pieces instead of reading to rearrange the paragraphs given. Check your sheets. Ensure that there are no mistakes in task sheets.

  1. Hi everyone,

For set induction, Wang Yi started her lesson by asking the students the definition of several words which were very difficult although she already asked her students to search for the words in the previous class. In my opinion, it will be more interesting if she shows the picture first before she test students' vocabulary skill.
For worksheet 1 (matching words), the words were too difficult for form four students. As a student, I felt like I'm learning biology.

However, the last activity was ok when she asked each group to pick a vegetable and make a sentence using first person. She even provided colorful picture of each vegetable for them. It will be more fun if she ask them to expand the sentence and write a paragraph to share it with the class.

  2. Hi everyone,

It was a really ‘colorful’ class. You showed many fresh vegetables through a picture and discussed it with the students. Besides that, I think one of your activities was interesting. You asked students to choose the vegetables, and then write something to introduce them in first person or third person. Moreover, you are a sweet teacher. You told students to ask their parents to cook some vegetables mentioned in the class. I liked it.

I still have some suggestions. Even though your passage chosen was not so long, it was hard to comprehend. The vocabulary activities are so difficult for students. Moreover, there are some grammar mistakes in the worksheet. You should pay more attention on this problem next time.

    Overall, well done!

  3. Hi everyone, the topic is new; it can easily get students attentions. It also enriches the students’ health knowledge.

But once you get into it, it includes some medicinal words and I think it a little difficult for students. That may cause

students lose their interests to the lesson. I like the activity she used in her lesson; she lets students understand the

benefits of different kinds of vegetables and introduce these vegetables to the class which is fun. Be wares that check the

sheets before you teach. Anyway, well done!

  4. I like her topic very much. These vivid pictures really can attractive students. When teacher asks the name of these vegetables, it help students recall the previous knowledge, and can link the health lifestyle idea.

However, I think the worksheet kind difficult for students. I hope you can improve it better.

Thanks for your lesson. well done.
