Hawt n Spicey

My, my how much Phyl has improved. Her voice doesnt trail off into thin air. She shows a lot more confidence (and skin) in class. Her activities are meaningful and interesting. I love the sorting of rubbish into the right colour-coded bins. the clip was enjoyable. most importantly she has improved. very proud of her (*and her skin). remember though that you can improve your interactions with the sts and smile more.
Hmm I wonder what these people were focusing on...
A chart instead of questions...interesting..
Pei Pei's notes on Phyl's teaching.
Is it hawt in here, or is it hawt...?

  1. It's interesting how Phyll started off with pictures of 3 different things in 3 different colours, but can still manage to connect it to her topic for the day. Phyll's voice is clear and her intonation is good, and I really like her sexy Sabahan 'slang'! That would surely gain a lot of student's attention! :p

When students did not answer her questions regarding the 3R's , she should make one or two of them attempt to answer rather than just explaining it to them. This is because, if they don't bother to answer the teacher's question, they would surely not bother hearing her explanation as well.

Her activity was good and different because it make students walk to the front of the classroom instead of just doing everything in their seat. Students particularly love activities like this because it is fun and not boring!

However, I think that after she tells students what colour bin is for what kind of waste, she should ask them to rearrange again to make sure that they really understand and to reinforce the knowledge that they had just received.

The sequence connectors that were introduced in the lesson can also be more involved, especially during the part where students had to describe the process of recycling papers. Maybe the teacher can list out different sequence connectors to help the lower proficiency students.

The video was a nice way to wrap up the class. All in all, it was a satisfactory lesson although there is still room for improvement! For example, Phyll should calm down and interact more with the students :)

  2. HOT HOT HOT :)
I haven't attend Phyll's first lesson so I can't really compare but I believe you all that she had improved :) Her confidence cans till get higher but I believe it will come with time and practice :)
I think the activities were great. One small thing missing was to rearrange the objects after knowing which color represents what waste. Otherwise it was fun (Poor Ellina..)
I'm nor sure about the dressing code in Malaysia, but in Europe this outfit is very common among female teachers :) it definitely attracts the students, male as well as female based on my experience :)

  3. When in Rome, do as the Romans. Always be aware of the school needs, culture and people (teachers and students). I believe the attire was not suitable. It can be very distracting esp if you're teaching 16-17 year old boys with raging hormones. Personally, I do not mind whatever you wear or how you carry yourself because to me, what is inside counts and being judgmental isnt in my blood. BUT in this case, I have to advise you that with such attire, you may get into trouble you dont really need esp as a trainee in schools...Think about it..

  5. Phyl's taught a meaningful lesson in an interesting way. She started with explanation on the topic, which I think shouldn't be too long. She can ask for students' opinion when she's having difficulties to explain then maybe paraphrase it. The pre-reading activity was brilliant! (p/s Joy,i like it=p) but just like Pei Pei and Joy had mentioned, she could have ask the students to rearrange the words after telling them the correct color for the three types of waste material. Next, instead of asking questions in sentences, she prepared a chart for the students to fill in based on their reading. Good idea! Overall it was a great lesson..but she could improve by engaging students more in her lesson.

    1. YES! why didnt we think of that? We had to wait for the smallest to say this? THanks, Ellina. She COULD get the students to rearrange the rubbish after telling us the right colours, couldnt she? YES! Thanks!

  6. Good points—Phil appeared more confident than her last lesson though she claimed that she was extremely nervous, and spoke clearer. What I like most are those various, meaningful and contextual activities she prepared for the lesson. For example, paste the words according to the category of the recycling bins. The way she carried out the lesson and delivered the knowledge was new and fresh, which intrigued students a great deal.
Aspects to work on—A better rapport should be established between the teacher and students. Phil was nervous not cold towards her students but students might feel afraid to speak and give opinions. Therefore, the teacher needs to relax more. During the last activity, the pictures were not clear enough. I wished they were clear so I could see how the used materials were processed.
In sum, I like Phil’s informative lesson. All her activities were interrelated. Good job!

  7. I was very impressed with her improvement frankly speaking. So here are some of my feedback for Phyll's lesson.

Good point: She was confident, her voice did not trailed off like in her previous lesson. I like the idea of pasting the correct materials based on the dustbin's colors. I think students in school will love it. It was very informative and more importantly, it was fun. Since, before this I did not really know about what material should go to this color.

Improvement: She can improve her interaction with students by smiling more, ask the students to speak more rather than she's the one who speak most of the time. 1 more thing, just like what have been mentioned before by the others, she could ask the students rearrange the materials after the know the answer of what color represents what materials. All in all, it was a fun class and very informative. Well done!

  8. Teacher phyll was such a hot teacher. She attracts the students with her dress up. It was an interesting activity where student need to paste the correct word at the correct bin.It was a good brainstorming activity. I do agree with bincho, that she could have asked the students to rearrange the materials after giving them info of what colour represent what material. It was such a improvement compared to the previous one. Overall, an informative lesson. Good job sexy..!!
