Alwana: Taste You

love the clip from the King and I. The exposure to the English from the clip is refreshing. Be careful of your pronunciation of some words. Taste vs test you. Alwana's presence as usual, is comforting and pleasant. Her instructions can be improved though. Remember. When you have a new game which might be too complex to explain, you use demonstration. It gets easier for you n your students. Ashilla suggested that Alwana should ask students to write a description of a lost friend or pet rather than to describe a friend without a reason. Good. It's all about making lessons meaningful to the students.

  1. Good points—Alwana was confident through the whole lesson. She was well-dressed and well-prepared. Above all, she is always on time. I see plenty of good teaching ethics in her. The idea of engaging students by arranging their seats was interesting, and she related the video to the activities.
Aspects to work on—The activity guidelines should be clearer and a demonstration can be a great way to let students understand the instruction easily instead of the repetitive explanation. Additionally, it’s better for Alwana to write down certain difficult adjectives on the whiteboard so others can learn from these new vocabularies. Lastly, the video clip was be a bit long for me and I lost my focus later on. Therefore, if Alwana can shorten the video a bit more and show the part where they shake hands with each other, I think that’ll be enough to achieve her goal.

  2. Alwana seem meek but she is very firm in her teaching. For example when she insist that I move twice to sit according to her lesson, plus point that she did it kindly but stern. :) Though she can be less robotic and react according to her student's need. I had a raspy voice that day and she did not seem to ask why, it would be nice to have a more interactive teacher. :)

Her lessons seem fun but the instruction could be clearer maybe with demonstrations before the class conduct on their own.

Also, it'll be more fun if she wants us to describe someone by giving us a contextual content such as a missing person description or adoption agency. :)

  3. oh, I was convinced I did keep track on commenting yet I miss out on Alwana's lesson :)

Good points - All the points that Wendy mentioned above :) Plus her calm nature, smile and likability! The video was nice and the topic of describing other.
Aspects to work on - Even though I did understand what she meant when explaining the task, I know it would be confusing for some students, and as we have seen, it actually was. She even admitted herself that she got confused :) So it was better to write it down as well as demonstrate on a pair of students. Over all ENJOYED!
